Party Umpire Analysis

SGS Minerals Services laboratories have been performing analytical determinations of pay and penalty metals for over 20 years, resulting in strong, long-term laboratory-client relationships.

This work has included the analysis of metallurgically complex, recycled scrap smelter-feed for one of the world’s largest nickel producers. Many producers and consumers of precious metal automotive catalysts rely on SGS' flagship laboratory in Lakefield, Canada for specialized, high quality analytical services.

All four facilities have highly trained and professional staff with many years of experience in handling high-value samples of concentrates, bullion, smelter products, recycled materials, precious metal catalysts, electronic scrap and photographic materials.

These designated facilities employ uniform analytical and operational methodologies, follow industry-leading quality assurance and quality control practices, and use standardized templates for the presentation of their results.

Professional staff from these laboratories collaborate closely to share best practices and expertise, ensuring all four facilities remain at the leading edge of technical developments. Quality Assurance/Quality Control practices, including internal round robin programs, rank with the best anywhere–our party/umpire labs are accredited to ISO17025 or are in the process of obtaining that accreditation.

The four laboratories are experts in the specialized field of party and umpire analysis. For instance, the Lakefield facility has been performing analytical determinations of pay and penalty metals for over 20 years.

The Lakefield laboratory has evolved into a first-rate facility staffed by experienced technical professionals including a team of research chemists that have the expertise to solve the most daunting sampling and analytical problems.

Commercial transactions are settled on our results, so we know that they must be timely as well as accurate. Having specialized laboratories strategically located around the world allows us to provide the rapid turnaround necessary to facilitate international trade in high-value materials.
